So last night I did indeed go to the Dance Complex, my wings all safely snug in their little duct tape suitcase*. After kicking a ballet class out of my reserved room, I warmed up, put on the wings, and OH MY GOD THEY ARE GORGEOUS!!! It was one of those "I can't believe that's me in the middle of all this" moments. I worked with them for about 45 minutes and don't even feel that sore in the arms and shoulders today--all those downward dogs are paying off. I have to say I took to them pretty well. The trick will be not just swirling around with them but incorporating other belly dance movements as well. But even just swirling around is pretty breathtaking...

*side note: all the way to Central Square and back, people were stealing glances at my little duct tape suitcase, clearly wondering what the heck was in there. I would bet none of them guessed "belly dance wings."

And more materialism: my melodia/phoenix rising pants arrived today, and they too are gorgeous! I see what everyone means about melodias being flattering to any body type--they do indeed make you look longer and somehow they even make my thighs look narrower. They fit like a silken second skin. The purple is more in the plum range than the photo makes them look, which is perfect because I want to wear them with my teal/peacock feather belt for Friday.

So hooray for materialism, it makes me a happy happy woman today!
