Seti is home now, inspecting the entire house to make sure everything is just as he left it. He is sporting a very fashionable and practical crew cut on his belly--for once, one of my ferrets had the good sense to require shaving in the summer months rather than the winter. The news is about as good as can be; his right adrenal is at the larger end of normal, but still normal, and the left is what it should be. No signs of prostate problems, so that's a very good thing. The conclusion is that he is most likely showing early signs of adrenal gland disease, but it's too soon to go in and do surgery at this point. So he'll be getting Lupron shots to combat the effects of the hormones being released into his system by the erratically-functioning right adrenal gland, and we'll keep an eye on him for any signs that the adrenal is worsening. So, not miraculous news, but not terrible news either.

I like it when weasaels are home and not someplace else.

I am glad that Seti had the good sense to do this in the summer. He has always struck me as a very practical ferret. I am not so glad about the diagnosis, but I guess if he had to do it, he chose the most practical manifestation. Poor little sweetheart. Please let me know if there's anything I can do.

I keep thinking about the jilly mama with her bunny kits. Like, what did they do to introduce them to her that they weren't Yay, snacks! but my babies!. Was she just still so chock-full of oxytocin and milk that anything with big eyes and little paws melted her into mama-ness? If that's all it was, can we bottle it for humans? I can think about a few people in D.C. that I'd want to inject.
