today's dilemma

2.5" latin heels or 2" Cuban heels? Latin heels are way hotter and more elegant, but the Cubans provide a wider base of support and less height to teeter totter around in. Hmmm... I think my silver ballroom dance shoes are 2.5" and they are surprisingly comfy, but I think those heels are a little wider than your average ballroom dance shoe. How visible are the back halves of my feet when I'm dancing anyway? I guess fairly often. Choices, choices...

I don't know why those are called Cuban heels--I've seen them called that on boots and regular shoes too. They're definitely more attractive on boots.

The problem with the higher heels for belly dance is that you do lose some flexibility the higher the shoes go (or at least I do, at any rate). But I think I'm going to go with the Latin heels--they just look so much more elegant.

I always favor lower, wider heels, aesthetically and biomechanically, but I'm in the minority.

M is with you on that--he prefers the stompy orthopedic look :-) I just don't think the Cuban heels are terribly well integrated on these particular shoes, though.
