Apr. 29th, 2005 03:54 pmI don't know how I'm going to keep my eyes open for the next hour and a half. I really don't.
My quick errands after work last night ended up taking two hours, but they were productive. I went to Great Eastern Trading Company in Central to look for harem pants, and while they did not have any, they did have the very coin belts that a troupemate and I were planning to order online, which would have involved much sweating and fretting about timely arrival before our next show. They cost a little more at Great Eastern, but by the time you figure in the shipping, the belts were only a couple of dollars more, and the worry saved is worth that much. The proprietor is very talkative (according to her, I look and sound just like Laura Linney. I guess I can see a resemblance, though I don't know what she sounds like) so I didn't get out of there for a while. Then with a backpack full of coin belts, I went grocery shopping, and by the time over-burdened me made it to Alewife, my legs were quivering slightly and I knew there was no way that I could make myself dance that night. I did realize that it had been over a week since I'd taken a night off, so I let myself off the hook, just doing some stretching instead. This morning when I got up I did the 15 minute Rachel Brice workout, and today I've felt pretty good, so I made the right decision in not dancing last night. It's still frustrating though because there's a lot of work that needs to get done. And this is a kind of social weekend, so it will be hard to fit in the time. Part of me wants to bail on everything and use all my non-work time for dance. But then again, I need to be social too. And I have to be careful not to let my passion become an obligation. And then there's always injury to remember.
I wish I was more like her. Then I could do everything.
