There's a breeding pair who have been very active since early-October around the house (although, thankfully, not on the house). They've pretty much lost their fear of me -- I hope it's not because I look like a moveable tree. The cardinal pair who roost around here in the winter don't seem to pay them any mind, so that's good -- maybe there will be some red to go with the blue jays around here.
I've been seeing more junkos and black-capped chickadees lately than in falls past, too -- not sure if they'll overwinter. I guess I should figure out how to rig a feeder or suet box that the squirrels can'twill have a harder time reaching.
I think I saw the last Monarch of the season this afternoon flitting by like a falling leaf.
