(no subject)

good lord, what on earth has Bradley made?  The glimpses look appalling.

I'm totally rooting for Michael, not just because I like his vision but also because he has the ability to be self-critical and then act on his self-criticism in a constructive way, something that seems to be pretty lacking in most of the others...

Yeah! Michael won! Poor goofy Bradley and his space girl top and (ahem) camel toe pants...

I'd never heard it - but I quickly imagined the visual .. ewwwww :)

Yeah, that's my boy Michael! Switching to the hot pants was _perfect_.

On one hand, Uli's dress was _gorgeous_. On the other hand, it's the same freakin' dress.

Laura's outfit definitely nailed Lauren Bacall. The problem is that a high waistline is in the complete opposite direction of modern waistlines.

I liked Kayne's dress, but I think it benefitted from the model's red hair. I'd be curious as to how it'd look with a more Marilyn platinum blonde hair.

Angela surprises with yet another solid performance. I wonder how long she can keep it up before she gets too out of the box again. I think she showed fantastic restraint, and executed this assignment perfectly.

I really don't know how Jeffrey could claim his outfit was a Madonna outfit. It was waaaay too deconstructionist gladiator, and lacked the sex appeal that Madonna is famous for.

Alison tried to avoid looking too 70's with her Farrah Fawcett outfit, but there's just no way that outfit can claim to be modernized. Again, the waistline is way too high, and it has that problem a lot of the womens' fashion of the 70's had of looking too much like sleepwear.

Bradley...Bradley...You got the waistline and midriff right, both from a modern and a Cher perspective. The rest...'04 cowgirl on bottom, This Island Earth on top. You were doomed to get auf'ed, and this week is just as good as any to get it over with.

The critics had it right about Vincent - it just wasn't playful enough. There wasn't enough of a girlish look to it. It had more of a Brady Bunch meets kabuki feel. (the Brady Bunch comment was soooo on the money) I have $20 down that you're out next week.

Robert, why did you go with earth tones when you could've gone with a light blue or light turquoise? And for crying out loud, this is right down your power alley. You _love_ the 60's era Barbie outfits, many of which are styled after Jackie O, and you went with linen and beige?!?!? Heck, you could've gone for a navy and white...gaaah...

It looks to me like the main players have shown themselves, and that the top 5 are basically decided: Michael, Kayne, Angela, Laura, and Alison.

Uli makes some gorgeous dresses, but she can't seem to break out of her own mold and show us something else. Jeffrey is too deconstructionist and too punk rock to last for long. Vincent can get it right sometimes, but he's too random, and there's no way he's going to be consistently good for 8 more weeks. Robert has to get his groove back _fast_, or it'll be all over.

...what?!

Good recap :) The main problem I had with Angela's dress is that it looked exactly like what Laura wears everyday, but with a bunch of those f-ing rosettes thrown on. I would have loved to have seen Robert design for Audrey, although Jackie O should have been perfect. Didn't he mention something about borrowing the linen from Vincent? What did he buy for fabric, then?? And Laura was designing for Katherine Hepburn, by the way. Same class level as Bacall :) That outfit was awesome. And Jeffrey -- what a disappointment.

I think I want to see Michael, Alison and Robert in the final. I love Laura (aka my fave Cruella de Vil), but dunno if she can make it all the way (although after her pants outfit yesterday I would love to see a full line). And I don't know if Kayne can design anything besides gowns. As a Barbie designer, Robert should be able to :)

I got sucked in... !!

I liked Kayne's dress the best .... Poor Poor Bradley :/

Yes, I've been sucked into show I thought I'd never watch :P... 'cause I watched the dog one... it was cute & dogs :).. then of course I had to watch who got ousted in the big drama... by then I was hooked and had to watch this week's :).... I'm a goner ;P

Micheal' hotpants thing worked - but I think he was really helped that his model was such a good match for his icon.
