Traditional dancer in Pakistan murdered by the Taliban after refusing to give up dancing

The Taliban has reportedly killed a traditional dancing girl in Pakistan, underlining its growing power in the the North-West Frontier Province.

Shabana's bullet-riden body was found slumped on the ground in the centre of Mingora's Green Square, strewn with money, CD recordings of her performances and photographs from her albums.

A Taliban leader later appeared on FM radio to admit the killing and warn the militant organisation would not tolerate any 'un-Islamic vices'.

He said any other girls found performing in the city's Banr Bazaar would be killed 'one by one'.

This makes me sick to my stomach.  I wish... I don't know what I wish.  I send money to groups like Women For Women, I support dancers and musicians whenever I can.  But it feels like nothing next to the vileness in some people's hearts.

I am making shrinky dinks!  It is super fun!  My mom never let us make them when we were kids, or maybe only once.  Whee!!!

I needed earrings to match my Arisia outfit and this seemed like a good way to create them.  You can get thin sheets of shrinky dink stuff that go in inkjet printers!  Soon I will be shrinking everything!
