Was planning to go to the tribal/tribal fusion show this afternoon but after sleeping until 2pm, I have zero ability to get myself motivated out the door. I'll work on my own dancing instead, in a lazy kind of way.
Realized today that my workshop instructor for the next Raks Spooki event has a big event in her hometown the night before the date I had picked. The conflict is my fault, she told me about it back in March but I was so focused on not conflicting with local events I forgot about it. Rethinking has to be done. I am wondering if I would be running the risk of too many people being out of town if I picked July 1, a Sunday. I don't think the crowd that would come to a gothic belly dance events would be big travel for the fourth of July type people, but I'm not sure. Even if some of them are, perhaps they would be likely to work Monday and Tuesday anyway so it would be ok. Anybody have any thoughts on that?
Have noticed a distinct correlation between keeping off extra fluff and the frequency with which I walk the 3/4 of a mile to the train station rather than taking the bus in the mornings and in the evenings when it's still light out. New resolve: walk more. I also decided to start using fruit preserves rather than margarine on my toast in the morning, that's easily 100 fat calories out of my daily consumption right there. I can't let myself get all diet obsessed because it will ruin my mental well-being, but some changes are small and easily accommodated.
The Melora Creager solo album is very nice. It has killer robots and Armageddon, what more could one desire? There's a wider variety of instruments than Rasputina uses, piano, various small percussion, etc., but the overall sound is a bit reminiscent of the earliest Rasputina stuff, with a certain airy openness and delicacy. Probably won't have huge appeal for those who are not already Rasputina fans, but highly recommended for those who are.
