I've been having unpleasant shoulder/upper arm pains (as opposed to the pleasant kind, I guess) which I have suspected are largely due to my keyboard at work being up too high so that my muscles are constantly contracted and clenched.  I was thinking about ways I could move the keyboard around when it occured to me in a flash of brilliant insight that--gasp--I could raise my chair up to make the rest of my body higher!  My upper body feels more relaxed already.  There is the added benefit that now the desktop is too far away to allow slouchy elbow leaning.  Ha, should have thought of this years ago.

Yesterday Ronan had his annual checkup and rabies shot.  He has lost about half a pound in the last year, which is great.  He also has an enlarged spleen, which is not so great, but I knew that already (useful random skill of mine:  I can palpitate a ferret's spleen).  That combined with some sketchy litter box output means he's on an anti-helicobactor protocol for two weeks.  Two of the medications are apparently delicious, but the third is pure poison, Ronan tells me.  We'll see if this makes any difference when the two weeks are up; if not, then he probably has IBD, but to find out for sure would require opening him up for a biopsy, and that's not worth the risk.  Might put him on prednisolone if the current medications don't do the trick.  And if the spleen gets too enlarged, it can always come out.  Ferrets can get along without them, or without a chunk of them, just fine.

After a vaccination a ferret shouldn't be left alone for a day or so in case of a delayed allergic reaction, so I stayed home from work to keep an eye on Ronan.  I went on a cleaning frenzy; guess it is a sign of spring!  I pulled enormous amounts of hair, mine and the ferrets', from all the rugs and corners, and finally the kitchen floor is no longer sticky.  I washed it twice!

Then off to Najmat's class, which was as always very good.  I love the challenge that her class always presents to me.  My dance buddy Elke said that she can already see some of the technique from that class in my dancing, which is good to hear; I must be internalizing it.  That class finished up with work on the choreography we're performing in early May for a Green Street Studios open house, to Nourhanne's Habibi ya Aini (great song).  Then off to the Dance Complex for a Jewels of Jamal rehearsal for a show at the end of April.  Lilya taught us a choreography she wrote for Natacha Atlas' Soleil du Egypte, very lovely with interesting formations.  It's a partner-driven choreography; I partnered with Lilya, which was very fun.  We come from not entirely similar dance backgrounds but we share a love for drama and a serious focus.

All in all, it was a great evening, physical yet simulataneously cerebral with all that focus on understanding choreography and movement.  Though I kind of wrecked the cerebral part of the evening by watching the finale of Sci Fi Channel's Dark Kingdom.  But hey, Brunhilde kicked ass in the best Xena tradition.  I want that armor belt with the runes hanging from it!
