Arlington will have beer and wine stores this summer! yay! No hard liquor, but still, this is a first in town history. If I had that kind of investment money, I would totally quit my job and open a quality wine and beer shop somewhere on Mass Ave, dedicated to affordable yet drinkable beverages.
I totally called Libby's history, weeks ago.
I was doing so well with this whole being awake thing, but now I'm starting to crash. Maybe WBUR's coverage of the new health insurance law will provide enough irritation to keep me awake (honestly! how is somebody who makes $30,000 a year supposed to come up with an extra $275 per month for health insurance?!? but with any luck, this mandatory health care thing will hurt Romney in the national Republican arena, so maybe there will be a silver lining)
How is it that I quit one troupe to simplify my life and focus on my solo dancing, but somehow my life is currently eaten up by two troupes? One of them is only for a few more weeks though. And I'm very excited for my solo piece for the NBDA hafli/Amira Jamal's student recital. I'll be doing more meleya leff to music from Bent al Beledi, Fifi Abdo's album, and for the NBDA show where I have more time I'll also add a short cane piece. Just dancing around in the kitchen last night to the meleya song was fun, I think this one will pretty much dance itself. I like not having to remember what is supposed to come next! I just wish that Dahlal had my dress in my size in stock, it would be perfect for this number. But I can repeat it when the dress arrives, the meleya plus the cane plus a drum solo would be just right for a Middle East show. I'm already excited just thinking about it!
I did the Seane Corn Vinyasa flow DVD that
rojagato gave me last night--I really enjoyed it. Seane Corn is an excellent instructor; some of her explanations made things really click for me, even things that I thought I had previously understood. What she does, at least on the first disc, isn't so much a workout as a tutorial. My only critique is that I personally need some twists on the floor to really open up my lower back before I can comfortably lie flat and relaxed for corpse pose, but that's just me, and I can easily pause the DVD and throw a couple in before proceeding. One thing I really focused on for myself was the location of my shoulder blades; after doing some reading, I think my left shoulder and arm problem (I am avoiding calling it a rotator cuff injury, but that's probably what it is) is stemming from tight chest muscles causing the shoulder to roll up and forward and thus putting wierd stresses on the muscles. I think being mindful of the location of my shoulders really helped, since I have very little soreness today. I will also incorporate more backbends and chest-openers into my regular practice. Dancing with wings is good too ;-)

I know what you mean about the "wait! I thought I was simplifying!" thing. :) I'm also confused as to how I can be so restless/bored and yet worn/needing a break all at once. I'm thinking springtime/outdoorsy stuff might help.
