That seems to be a regular pattern--I've just got bluejays now, no more little grey birdies. But I like bluejays too, they come look in the window at me :)
chickadees and boobiemice are rather attracted to sunflower seeds. and they move in and out of the picture so quickly it's usually easier to find them by sound! if you like them (as i do (well, i officially like all the indigenous species!)), try putting up a sunflower seed feeder. house sparrows aren't too excited about that type of seed, while you'll get lots of indigenous species. also, chickadees are pretty brave and will sometimes land on a hand in the name of snacking.
