"Belly Dance in Cairo - Yafoleya" by Hussain El Masry--yummy ooey gooey Egyptian goodness, accordion, strings, nay, great drumming, everything one's heart could desire!  It was released in 1994 but has a great classic sound.

BTW, can you recommend anything really down-and-dirty country with lots of wailing mizmars and rebecs sawing away? Need some Ren-faire-appropriate stuff for the students ...

Upper Egypt Ensemble is great mizmar stuff, esp. the album Mazamir Sahara (in fact, you'll see that I wrote a rave review over at emusic :) Mahmoud Fadl's Drummers of the Nile series has some great stuff too, though not all of it is cut well for performing. Hossam Ramzy's Gypsies of the Nile is very good too.
