I'm not sure why but the carpeted floor hurts me more - I think because it's harder to turn on it and my foot gets stuck while my knee goes around for the turn - major torquing.
alas if only we could have a wooden floor.
I wonder if the classes will still be 2 hours long. I wish there was a way to see into the future and see who will be in the classes. That makes far more of a difference than the actual material. Last year, we had a very beginner student coming to Tuesdays who had to have every move explained to her, to the point where our drills each weeek, which should take 5-10 minutes, were taking an hour. I told Amira that I might go to her Thursday night classes instead in Cambridge. She said she thinks I might be ready for Mondays, but when I saw that thing about full routines, I wasn't sure - I have the stamina to dance solo for 15 minutes, but do you guys have the stamina to watch me? I did like the samples I heard from the Spectacular Rhythms CD though. Since she mentioned some routines would be sharqi routines, it sounds like she is going to branch out a little bit, which is cool. She pointed out that Leilet Hob was a branch-out for her already. This could be going in a really cool direction.
re- sytycd - I wondered that too - whether their short solos are improvised or choreographed, how far in advanced if choreo'ed - like in the hallway that day or did they memorize it in advance. music interp - that was me and alli's main complaint the last time we watched the solos - seemed like some dancers didn't cdonnect movement to music at all - they just wanted to jump around and do big spectacular moves. why have music at that point?
