sometimes I really crack myself up

Yep, one panel of a corset belt.  I still need to shape the tassel a little bit.  Oh well, I really should have known better--I probably could have slapped together a very basic corset belt in an afternoon, but not one that required sewing 40 little shell washers onto twill tape by hand...  On the positive side, even though I only completed one panel, I do have all the pieces cut out, shells sewn, materials assembled, etc., so finishing it won't be too bad.  If I didn't need to get in some practice time tonight, I'd just forge on through, but I do need to run through some things.

On that panel you can see the shell washers, plastic skull beads on ribbons, a coconut shell ring, a kuchi coin, a carved bone skull and horse hair.  And of course skull fabric, and you can't see the denim backing I put on for stability.  The lacing will be a dusky maroon, pretty much a darker shade of the chair it's sitting on in the photo.  It looks a bit more pirate than I'd like, but I think the whole ensemble will say voodoo when it's done.  And I suppose if I ever get into that notorious pirate belly dance fusion, I can repurpose it ;-)

It says "voodoo" to me - I didn't even think "pirate" at all until I read your text.

(Also it's awesome.)
