BTW, if any of you with gardens would like any day lilies, I have an overabundance of them and would be more than happy to dig some up for you.  They are very nice orange lilies, they are just encroaching too far on the rest of my small yard.

I just dug up a few in our yard (left by previous owner). They were HUGE! And haven't even grown buds yet. I'm keeping most, but it was a little out of control. I had no idea they grew so big.

They'll get even more out of control as summer goes on--I have to tie back the ones next to our front steps, otherwise you get covered in orange pollen every time you leave or enter the house!

can you chop back the leaves without hurting the plant? right now its just leaves, and they're huge.

good idea though -- I may transplant a few to the front yard.

The best way to control them is to uproot the outer ones--they spread underground. The ones next to our stairs look so pretty when they bloom, though, that I can't quite bring myself to thin them out too much :)
