Last life in the Universe is a gorgeously rendered film about human beings, where plot is really secondary to personal moments in time. It is one of those movies that will stay with me for a long time. The color palette alone would ensure that. I dreamed about lizards last night.
I was a little bothered by my instant empathy for characters who--well, suffice it say, I should be somewhat bothered. But then in the closing credits I noticed that one of the executive producers was Fran Rubel Kozui*, and it instantly made much more sense.
*but I think i am truly stunned to see that she was a producer on Orgazmo. that was entirely unexpected, but it still somehow all makes sense. What an interesting career.
