Last life in the Universe is a gorgeously rendered film about human beings, where plot is really secondary to personal moments in time.  It is one of those movies that will stay with me for a long time.  The color palette alone would ensure that.  I dreamed about lizards last night.

I was a little bothered by my instant empathy for characters who--well, suffice it say, I should be somewhat bothered.  But then in the closing credits I noticed that one of the executive producers was Fran Rubel Kozui*, and it instantly made much more sense.

*but I think i am truly stunned to see that she was a producer on Orgazmo.  that was entirely unexpected, but it still somehow all makes sense.  What an interesting career.

How much control does an exec producer usually exert over a film's feel, and how the characters are portrayed, though? Or are you mostly saying that someone involved with Buffy and Angel probably has an aesthetic sympathetic to yours?
I'm not sure I can say I *enjoyed* the movie, but it was something I was glad to have seen and experienced. It's so hard to describe my reaction to it, though. It's positive, mostly, with some part of me a bit disturbed about things. :)

It's always refreshing to see a film or tv show where they're not afraid to use shades of grey for the characters. :)
