Klaus Kinski was such a goddamn rock star, it isn't funny. No wonder Mick Jagger's character was cut from Fitzcaraldo, they didn't need him around!

The Salon article was what promted me to add my Best Fiend to my netflix queue. I haven't read his autobiography, but I like Herzog's story about the two of them sitting together looking up reprehensible adjectives that Kinski could use to describe Herzog. What a relationship--it would be interesting to hear a third party's take on it.
