Finished watching the Greg the Bunny sitcom last night. It was interesting to note exactly where the Fox network stepped in and made them change everything. They even split up the episodes on the DVDs at that point. Greg looks just plain wrong with regular eyes instead of buttons, the puppet loses that air of childlike innocence that is part of the point of his character. I remember reading at the time that Fox hated the button eyes from the start and thought people wouldn't connect to him if he didn't have more realistic eyes. Alison changes from a genuine bitch to a sympathetic character (I'd forgotten Sarah Silverman was in the show, she and Seth Green are good together), Jack changes from dark troubled yet funny Vietnam vet to kooky slightly dumb Vietnam vet. The plots stayed about the same though in terms of outrageousness*. It's a shame (and an ironic one at that) that the network got too involved in the show's details and still didn't support it. It would have fared much better on cable. Anyway if you like Seth Green style humor, chances are you will like the show if you haven't already seen it.
*the rape counselor joke seemed much tamer now than it did when it was first aired. Has pop culture really changed that much, or did people go overboard about it at the time?
Also this was a good exchange:
Gil: When I'm out for blood, I never let sex get in the way.
Susan the Monster: That's funny, for me it's just the other way around.
Seti seemed about back to normal last night. This is a huge relief. And my foot survived another class of arabesques last night, which is also a relief.
