Feb. 5th, 2006 02:59 pmI think I'm finally almost not sick. Yesterday I danced from 3-7 and then did an hour of yoga, followed by a couple of hours of dancing at the New England Darkside Walkers' Ball, and today I am hurting only from sleeping too long and making my back sore as a result. Still a little congested but now it is a faint annoyance rather than the dominating factor of life. I am so looking forward to yoga class this afternoon. I'm feeling a little trepidatious about my Middle East show tonight since I haven't been able to practice as much as I would like (do I use music that I've danced to before? no, I insist on doing something new because I am stubborn that way), but hopefully it will go well enough. I guess I will wear my copper coin costume and purple skirt, because my toenails are copper and my fingernails are purple and I don't feel like redoing them.
I had a lot of fun at the Dark Sidewalkers' ball last night.
cris spun an excellent set, and I'm always happy with the super old skool stuff that gets played at their events. Though as I remarked to a couple of people last night, it was a bit odd to be dancing to old Christian Death, Specimen, Siouxsie, etc surrounded by people who I am not entirely confident were born when those albums came out, singing along just like me. People who were born when I was 16 are old enough to drink now. Scary. But I am very glad that them young folks are finding and liking this music and keeping the old skool traditions going. People were dressed pretty fabulously too. I tell you, all in all it was a sight to warm a gerigoth's heart.
I liked that there were many vendors there as well; I hope they did good business. M remarked that they should hold events like these before the December holidays, a kind of goth holiday bazaar. I got a henna khamsa tattoo of yemeni design done on my palm. I couldn't resist, I am perhaps surprisingly a sucker for the anti-evil eye designs and amulets plus I have two gothic experimental shows later this week and it will be a nice addition to the costuming. And hey, I guess the color will match my copper coins for tonight's show.
I've always had a big woman crush on Starbuck, but now that she's becoming a bitter hurting alcoholic I think it's really love this time. Scar indeed.
